2) Read about the deforestation debate and sort statements.

3) To plan a persuasive letter.

  • Look at a formal letter layout and identify features such as an address.
  • Think of reasons why the rainforest should not be destroyed.
  • Can you think of arguments against deforestation using the conjunctions such as, but, however?

4) Type or write a letter persuading people not to cut down the rainforest.

  • Make sure you layout the letter correctly with an address and date.

5) Learn about collective nouns.

A collective noun is word that names a group of people, animals or things.

Try building a Kapok tree using lolly sticks or straws, toilet or kitchen roll and Jenga blocks or lego. How tall is your tree in CM? Can you convert into MM? Can you redesign to make it even taller? Try making model animals out of blu-tac. Will they go on your tree?
